Enhancement of fabric–mortar interfacial adhesion by particle decoration: insights from pull-off measurements

چکیده

Abstract Polymer-impregnated carbon fabric is used as an alternative to metallic reinforcement bars in cementitious materials, which then termed textile-reinforced concrete (TRC). In this study, the bond strength between cement-based matrix and was enhanced by decorating polymer (an epoxy) coating with hydrophilic micron-size particles (cement or silica) nanocarbons (functionalized nanotubes graphene oxide). Cement powder decoration led a 25% increase (measured pull-off test) 30% improvement mechanical properties of composite. At micron scale, resulted formation 100-μm thick interlayer decorated matrix. Unexpectedly, exposure cement-decorated samples NaCl environment (as off-shore constructions) due growth salt crystals at fabric–matrix interface.

Testing Interlayer Pull-off Adhesion in Concrete Floors by Means of Nondestructive Acoustic Method

Pull-off adhesion fb, in practice determined by the seminondestructive pull-off method, is a measure of the interlayer bond. It should be noted that the effectiveness of the pull-off method depends on the number of cores drilled. According to [1], one core per 3 m2 of floor should be drilled. Such a high density of cores drilled has a significant adverse effect on the condition of the tested fl...

Interfacial propulsion by directional adhesion

The rough integument of water-walking arthropods is well known to be responsible for their water-repellency [1, 2, 3, 4]; however, water-repellent surfaces generally experience reduced traction at an air-water interface [5, 6, 7, 8]. A conundrum then arises as to how such creatures generate significant propulsive forces while retaining their water-repellency. We here demonstrate through a serie...

Interfacial adhesion of graphene by multiscale models

This article presents a multiscale study on adhesive interactions between graphene and its substrates. First, van der Waals (vdW) interactions between graphene and a SiO2 substrate are studied by fi rst-principle density functional theory (DFT) calculations with dispersion corrections. It is found that the interaction strength is strongly infl uenced by changes of the SiO2 surface structures du...

Pull-off test in the assessment of adhesion at printed wiring board metallisation/epoxy interface

It is shown that the value of adhesion strength at the metallisation/polymer interface can be determined directly from a printed wiring board (PWB) by a pull-off method. However, careful optimisation of the test geometry is required. In particular, the mechanical properties of the substrate are important. The use of flexible substrate in the test results in severe underestimation of the adhesio...

Heat Transfer Enhancement of a Flat Plate Boundary Layer Distributed by a Square Cylinder: Particle Image Velocimetry and Temperature-Sensitive Paint Measurements and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition Analysis

The current empirical study was conducted to investigate the wall neighborhood impact on the two-dimensional flow structure and heat transfer enhancement behind a square cylinder. The low- velocity open-circle wind tunnel was used to carry out the study tests considering the cylinder diameter (D)-based Reynolds number (ReD) of 5130. The selected items to compare were different gap he...
